Welcome aboard ...

We have brought together a team of local and legendary creatives to create a holiday experience that is both nostalgic and modern, vibrant and subtle, relaxed and considered.

Stay.

Idle is all yours, and the space around it is shared by fellow nomads, yachtsman and sauna enthusiasts. Usually, the area around the boat is quiet, and sometimes it's a hive of fishing, hot / cold plunging, boat building and community. Lakes Entrance itself is a picture of wild East Coast activity in summer, and almost abandoned in winter. We love both equally.

Please kindly note that pets are welcome on board for an extra cleaning fee. While children are more than welcome on board, extra care is advised at the discretion of the parent or guardian.

  • Lakes Entrance is renowned for its beautiful beaches, friendly locals and fresh seafood. If you've come for a relaxing stay you'll find everything you need within arms reach. Please enjoy the books and board games and Netflix - but let’s be honest. Your going to be spending most of your time either in the tub on one of the decks. Soaking in all that our floating paradise has to offer, listening to our specially curated ‘Idle’ playlist on Spotify or ITunes. If at some point in your stay you do feel like crossing back over your gangway and returning to the real world, you will find an onboard guide that holds all the tour guides and maps to our beautiful region including where to drink and explore. There is a welcome booklet provided which showcases everything we love about the area, places to eat, things to do and everything in between. A few early recommendations within close proximity to us are:

Breakfast & Coffee: Albert & Co. Across the other side of the road, you will find this Melbourne-inspired cafe, serving coffee, fresh pastries and an array of breakfast choices!

Dinner: Sodafish. Turn right at the end of the jetty, walk 300m and you will hit Sodafish. Opened by renowned head chef, Nick Mahlook, this predominantly seafood restaurant is high quality and serves fresh seafood straight from the local trawlers.

Wellbeing: Koho Sauna (Our sister business). Located on the same vessel, Koho Sauna is a wellbeing experience that focuses on hot/cold therapy. Guests alternate between a wood-fired sauna and an invigorating dip in the Gippsland Lakes. You can check their website for availability and 20% off a private sauna booking for our guests

Such an incredible, unique experience like no other. The photos just don’t do it justice. The retro furnishings and every tiny aspect of the home are unique and high quality; from the mermaid door handle to the Gucci wallpaper and cloud like beds. Walking distance to everything you need, but you won’t want to leave this floating sanctuary anyway. Highly recommend; I’m already planning my next stay! - Kate

Overall staying at Idle was a rejuvenating experience, full of laughs, water and good times!Idle Lake House is the ultimate holiday destination! Situated right on the waterfront of the Gippsland Lakes, this unique floating house will have your crew having the time of their lives. We loved swimming to our hearts content, relaxing on the deck, enjoying some drinks and chats, listening to tunes on the record player and just overall having an excellent time in each others company, in such an idyllic space. The retro interior also added to the fun, summery vibe- Lisa

Welcome aboard.

If you've come for a relaxing stay you'll find everything you need within arms reach. Just a few things we need you to know before you sink right in and drift off...

Idle is a boat and we want you guys to have some wine, for God sake do some dancin and be safe around the water. We haven’t much railing so as not to interfere with your view, so please just be safe on the decks and don’t go breaking any bones on this trip.

The vessel she may move a little. The boat herself is pretty bloody sturdy but if sea sickness is something you are partial to, quells are available from the local pharmacy and might be handy to have on site incase of some hectic weather.

Now we share this vessel with our sister business, KOHO Sauna. As a team we designed this vessel and both of our business’ for fun and good times so you may notice some noise and splashing from the north end. Please know that both business’ have done absolutely everything we can to prevent any interruptions for all of our patrons, however noise travels so damn well over water that unfortunately you may notice KOHO’s guests at times. Our vessel as a whole is a vibe and meant for good times, so take it all in and enjoy embrace the fun.

Now go on and have fun and enjoy your stay. We know you will x
