The Experience.
Part nostalgic escape, part boutique retreat, Idle was once an old floating Chinese restaurant reimagined into a one-of-a-kind accommodation experience on the water.
Wake slowly. Swim from the deck. Pour a wine as the sun disappears behind the lake. Watch weather roll across the Gippsland Lakes from bed.

Idle was designed for people craving atmosphere, stillness and connection to place.
Inside, you’ll find warm textures, vintage details, curated interiors and spaces intentionally created for slowing down. Outside, the lake surrounds you entirely - changing colour, mood and movement with the weather and time of day.
Summer in Lakes Entrance feels wild, social and alive. Boats pass by, people gather by the water and the coastline hums with energy.
Winter is something else entirely.
Quiet streets. Cold ocean air. Hot sauna sessions. Long dinners. Mist across the lake in the early morning.

Idle shares its floating home with KOHO Sauna - a thoughtfully designed waterfront sauna experience centred around ritual, wellbeing and connection.
Guests are invited to move between hot and cold, lake and steam, stillness and community.
At times you may hear the sounds of conversation, laughter and cold plunges drifting gently across the water - part of the atmosphere and rhythm of life aboard the vessel.

Railings have been intentionally kept minimal to preserve uninterrupted waterfront views
Children are welcome but must be supervised carefully at all times
Pets are welcome by prior arrangement and additional cleaning fees may apply

This gorgeous accomodation is literally on the water, and we were extremely lucky to have fabulous autumn weather for our three night stay. The sun followed the decks around the space, the sunset was gorgeous, the visiting swan captured our hearts. We enjoyed the 3 hour boat cruise around the lakes which departed close by, with dolphins and seals and water birds surrounding the boat-and also took a long walk along the pristine 90 mile beach. What more is there to say.
